Mixture of lives.
Diversity in the Metropolitan surroundings. Every time I have moved to a new city, I have been shocked and amazed by the energy derived from the people, struggling to survive in a competitive environment.
It confuses, however, at the same time it makes me feel proud that I'm becoming part of the power of the city.

I strive to capture and express such a power of human life through painting the animal-headed people. They develop their weird but aggressive looks while they accumulate years surviving in the urban area. I really love the optimistic energy which they are giving off. My cultural identity, Japan, also strongly affects my choice of the animal or bird head which takes an animistic form. This style can be seen in the Animal Caricatures, known as the first Manga drawn in the mid-12th century in Kyoto.
